Opened in 1983 to replace five small rural schools; housed in well-kept building with panoramic views of County Down, from Strangford Lough to Mourne Mountains. Pupils come from five-mile radius; due to developing area, and school's reputation, numbers are continually rising. Accommodation includes nine department classrooms, library/television room, computer suite, two quiet rooms, three open areas, and hall; also five mobile classrooms. School's academic success complemented by extra-curricular activities, including soccer, rugby, netball, choir, chess, cycling proficiency, conservation, recorder, art and craft, and 'dancercise' clubs. Pupils have raised an average of £10,000 a year for many worthy causes; supportive parent-teacher association raises up to £4,000 annually. Ethos: 'The school has a very caring, child-centred ethos.
